Product details
The Stronta ST60-BESS is a compact 60kVA / 102kWh battery energy storage system (BESS) built for sites that need clean, quiet and reliable three-phase power.
It packs lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, an integrated power conversion system, energy management and genset control into a small, rugged enclosure that is easy to transport, position and connect.
The ST60-BESS is ideal where our smaller integrated hybrid generator systems are to small. It can boost a limited site supply, provide backup power, run quietly on battery alone, or pair with a small diesel generator to cut fuel use and run hours.
It is supplied and supported by OMC Power Equipment from Christchurch and Auckland as part of the Stronta Power Solutions range, and it works alongside Stronta diesel generators.
What is the Stronta ST60-BESS used for?
Boosting a limited site supply
Adding a new machine to a workshop, farm shed or small factory often means discovering the existing supply can't handle it.
Upgrading the connection can be expensive and slow, and for one piece of equipment it's hard to justify.
The ST60-BESS offers a practical alternative. It recharges from the existing three-phase supply when demand is low, then supplements that supply when the new equipment is running.
This puts more power where you need it without waiting on the lines company, and it can often defer or avoid an upgrade altogether.
Backup power for critical loads
With a mains input for UPS-style operation, the ST60-BESS can keep essential equipment running during a power cut.
This suits farms, small businesses, community facilities and sites where an outage means lost production, spoiled stock or unsafe conditions.
Events, film shoots and noise-sensitive sites
On battery power the ST60-BESS runs with minimal noise and no exhaust fumes. Its compact size makes it easy to place close to where power is needed, so it suits:
- Events and markets: quiet power for stages, food vendors, lighting and ticketing.
- Film and television production: clean, quiet power on set, with no generator noise in the audio and no long cable runs.
- Urban and residential work: night works and sites with consent conditions on noise.
- Schools, hospitals and community spaces: temporary or backup power where noise and fumes are a concern.
Small construction sites and site offices
The ST60-BESS can power site offices, lighting and small tools overnight and during quiet periods, with a generator only starting when needed, exactly like our proven Trime Hybrid Generators, just larger!
Paired with a small diesel genset, it lets the engine run at an efficient load to charge the battery and then switch off. That means less fuel, fewer run hours and less wear, especially on sites where a generator would otherwise idle most of the day.
Off-grid and solar sites
Rural properties, remote infrastructure and off-grid buildings can use the ST60-BESS to store solar energy for use after dark, with generator backup when the sun doesn't cooperate.
How does it work with a generator?
The ST60-BESS has a built-in genset control interface that starts and stops a connected generator automatically, based on battery charge and site demand.
When the battery runs low or the load climbs, the generator starts, powers the site and recharges the battery. Once charged, the generator shuts down and the site runs quietly on battery.
A generator is most efficient at a solid load. This approach avoids the fuel waste, wet stacking and extra wear that come from running a small generator lightly loaded for long hours.
Key features
- Compact and easy to move. The ST60-BESS has a small footprint and a manageable weight, so it can be moved with a forklift, fitted on a truck deck and positioned on tight sites where a full container won't fit.
- Liquid-cooled LFP battery. LFP is one of the safest and longest-lasting battery chemistries available. Liquid cooling and heating keep the cells at a stable temperature, and active balancing helps protect capacity over a long service life.
- Handles real-world loads. The inverter handles unbalanced three-phase loads and non-linear loads such as chargers, rectifiers and drives, with overload capacity for motor starts and short peaks.
- Smart energy management. The onboard EMS manages the battery, mains or generator supply and solar together, prioritising continuous power to the site.
- Remote monitoring. Cloud monitoring over Ethernet or 4G/5G lets you check battery state, load and generator activity remotely. A large touchscreen serves on-site operators.
- Flexible connections. Custom outlet configurations are available to suit hire fleets, events and specific site requirements.
- Tough, compact and ready for hire
The ST60-BESS is built for repeated transport and deployment. Its rugged IP54-rated enclosure protects the batteries, electronics and cooling system from dust and splashing water, and critical components are sealed to a higher rating.
With its compact size, plug-and-play design and custom outlet options, it is well suited to rental and hire fleets, where units move from site to site and need to be up and running quickly.
Standards and compliance
The ST60-BESS power conversion system complies with AS/NZS 4777.2, alongside international safety and EMC standards for the inverter and battery pack.
The system is designed in accordance with IEC 62933 and UL 9540 and carries UN 38.3 and UN 3536 transport certification. Full details are on the spec sheet.
Need more capacity?
For larger loads or longer run times, the Stronta ST135-BESS (Can you link this?) offers more than double the power and storage in a single enclosure.
