Weber Smart Assist: A Guide on WeberMT's Integrated Compaction Control

Civil engineering and roading contractors require equipment that is simple to operate and easy to maintain. Weber MT developed the Weber Smart Assist (WSA) system to meet this requirement. WSA is a comprehensive user support software that combines machine control, engine protection, and compaction monitoring into one graphical display.
The WSA Dashboard

WSA is a newer system that brings the MDM engine protection and the COMPATROL compaction control together on one display. On WSA machines, they are two features on one dashboard rather than separate systems. The dashboard features an info screen with a redesigned bar graph for compaction progress. If an engine issue occurs, the system provides visual user support. It uses symbols to show operators how to rectify errors step-by-step.
Operation Upgrades

WSA fundamentally changes machine operation to reduce operator fatigue during long shifts on civil construction sites. By automating routine functions, the system allows contractors to focus on the compaction task rather than managing machine settings.
Push-Button Activation: Operators can start the machine and engage the vibration feature with the press of a single button. This immediate activation replaces traditional manual controls. It saves time on site and makes the equipment simple to use for operators of any experience level.
Automated Engine Speed: A manual throttle lever is no longer required on WSA models. The machine automatically reaches the correct operating speed once engaged. This automation removes operator guesswork and ensures the compactor runs at peak efficiency. Consistent engine speed protects the internal components from unnecessary wear and delivers reliable compaction results across the entire work area.
Engine and Environmental Standards
WSA-equipped compactors are powered by Hatz single-cylinder diesel engines featuring E1 technology. This technology introduces electronic fuel injection and engine control to single-cylinder engines. The electronic control unit optimises engine operation and allows for digital data exchange. This connectivity enables the engine to meet strict emissions requirements, including EU Stage V and US EPA Tier 4 final standards.
For projects with strict environmental and safety requirements, Weber MT offers WSA models fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF). Standard diesel emissions contain harmful soot particles and nitrogen oxides. Because of these emissions, traditional compaction work in enclosed spaces or deep trenches is often restricted.
The Hatz E1 DPF technology resolves this issue by filtering more than 95 percent of soot particles. This reduction goes beyond standard environmental protection requirements in Europe. With the DPF fitted, operators can safely use the machines in partially or completely closed work areas, such as deep trenches or halls. It eliminates the need for additional respiratory protection or ventilation measures on site, which improves working conditions and saves costs. This DPF technology is currently available exclusively on the CR 6 WSA DPF through to the CR 9 WSA DPF soil compactors from Weber MT.
Models Equipped with WSA

The Weber Smart Assist system is fitted to the premium range of reversible soil compactors. Available models include the CR 6 WSA, CR 7 WSA, CR 8 WSA, and CR 9 WSA. These compactors provide reliable compaction for deep trenches and heavy earthworks.
